OUR CLIENT IS AN INDIGENOUS HAULAGE COMPANY THAT DEALS IN THE MOVEMENT AND TRANSFER OF HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND PRODUCTS FROM THE FACTORY TO DISTRIBUTION POINTS IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE COUNTRY

AS PART OF PLANS TO IMPROVE ON FLEET MAINTENANCE AND EFFICIENT DELIVERY TIME, THE COMPANY DESIRES TO RECRUIT AN EXPERIENCED, ENERGETIC, RESULT-ORIENTED AND SUITABLY QUALIFIED INDIVIDUAL TO FILL THE POSITION OF A WORKSHOP MANAGER.

REPORTING TO THE MANAGING DIRECTOR, THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL LEAD A TEAM OF MECHANIES WHO WILL SEE TO THE REPAIR, MAINTENANCE AND SUSTENANCE OF THE COMPANY’S FLEET OF DELIVERY TRUCKS. THE JOB HOLDER WILL ALSO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAY-TO-DAY RUNNING OF THE TRAILER WORKSHOP OWNED BY THE COMPANY.

SPECIFICALLY, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:

- DEVELOP, IMPLEMENT AND MONITOR FLEET MAINTENANCE STRATEGIES AND WORK PLANS IN LINE WITH THE COMPANY’S STRATEGY AND AGREED TARGET
- MANAGE ALL MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS ACTIVITIES AND ACTIVELY WORK TOWARDS ENSURING IMPROVEMENTS IN OVERALL TURN AROUND TIME
- MAINTAIN ADEQUATE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE MAINTENANCE AND TRANSPORT CREWS, THUS ENSURING PROMPT AND EFFICIENT RESPONSES IN TERMS OF MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS
- MONITOR THE STATE OF VEHICLES PLYING THE DIFFERENT ROUTES, ENSURING THAT THE VEHICLES ARE IN OPTIMAL CONDITIONS TO ENSURE EFFICIENCY
- REPORT TO MANAGEMENT ON A PERIODIC BASIS ON THE STATE OF THE COMPANY'S FLEET AND GIVE RECOMMENDATIONS TO MANAGEMENT ON MAINTENANCE BUDGETS AND PURCHASES
- MONITOR DIRECTLY, THE DAILY ACTIVITIES OF THE COMPANY'S WORKSHOP


QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- A GOOD AND RELEVANT EDUCATION. A MINIMUM OF HND IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING OR ANY OTHER RELATED ENGINEERING FIELD IS REQUIRED
- MINIMUM OF FIVE YEARS' RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE IN MECHANICAL WORK INCLUDING VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS
- TRACK RECORD OF DOING SIMILAR WORK IN A SIMILAR ENVIRONMENT
- DEMONSTRABLE EXPERIENCE IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF VEHICLE PARTS AND ACCESSORIES, AND THEIR MAINTENANCE
- EXPERIENCE WITH IVECO TRAILERS/TRUCKS IS ESSENTIAL
- FAMILIARITY WITH THE TRUCK SPARE PART MARKET
- KNOWLEDGE OF THE LAGOS TERRAIN AND LAYOUT
- HIGH LEVEL OF INTEGRITY, DRIVE AND RESILIENCE
- GOOD ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS AND ABILITY TO WORK WITH MINIMAL SUPERVISION
- EXCELLENT PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS, INNOVATION AND SELF MOTIVATION
- WORKSHOP LEADERSHIP SKILLS
